Twin Cactus Ranch Creations History

samplesI was born and raised in Wyoming, Cheyenne Wyoming to be exact. My mother and her family homesteaded north of Cheyenne in a town called Federal Wyoming. I come from a long line of Western Heritage. As my children were growing up I found myself to be a horse show Mom. Not for my kids but for myself. I spent weekends, when I could, at the area Quarter Horse Shows. I have been a longtime volunteer for the famous “Daddy of them All” Cheyenne Frontier Days. I have helped with the Chuck wagon Races. My true passion for Cheyenne Frontier Days is the being the Director for the Junior Barrel Racing for CFD. Each year we have 30 little contestants up to the age of 12, compete for genuine Trophy Buckles. I was named Volunteer of the year for CFD in 1998.

The Twin Cactus Ranch Creations is my original design, created at first to be a hobby. I first started making purses out of cowboy boots to pass the time. My two children Ben and Anna had both left home and town and started families of their own. My husbands job had taken him to Nevada for a 2 ½ year long job. I found myself with a whole lot of time on my hands. Years prior my husband had bought me an industrial sewing machine that I used to sew interiors for the Street Rods we owned. Through the years I had used it to sew crafts, car interiors, and make saddle pad covers for a local riding group that I had belonged to. Now I was going to start something I never thought I would feel so passionate about. I believe each purse is a work of art. Most of the purses are made from vintage all leather cowboy boots. Some are made from new cowboy boots. Each Purse is an original and is Branded on the inside with a Twin Cactus original brand.

My favorite purses are the ones I make for someone from a pair of boots that had sentimental value, maybe Grandpa’s or Dads or maybe a deceased persons boots. The emotion attached to a pair of cowboy boots sometimes is indescribable. They link you utterly to the past. The thought of throwing Grandpa’s boots in the garbage just because they have holes in the soles doesn't mean they can’t be transformed into a cherished heirloom.
